With the globalization of production bases, SUNON Group is actively building its production base in the Philippines, hence, more international talents are needed. Recently, SUNON signed a Memorandum of Understanding on talent cultivation with Kun-Shan University and Shu-Te University, and embarked on a more diversified talent cultivation plan. We hope that through the industry-academia collaboration, we can help universities recruit more international talents to study in Taiwan, and on the other hand, more talents can be trained for high-level positions in line with the global operations of SUNON.
According to SUNON Executive Vice President Simon Wu, "With SUNON actively building its global second overseas production base in the Philippines, we will need more international talents and local Filipinos to join; through the signing of MOUs with science and technology universities, it can help recruit overseas talents, allowing students from the Philippines to come to Taiwan to start participating in industry-academia courses during their studies. This cooperation can strengthen the company's talent selection, cultivation, and retention, and at the same time, the training could be designed to align with the talents needed by the overseas factories of SUNON.”
The MOU signed between SUNON Group and the science and technology universities not only conforms with the company's current talent needs, but also provides a complementary WIN, WIN, WIN solution for the university and the students. This program can help universities recruit students in the Philippines and increase the willingness of Filipino students to study in Taiwan; SUNON could provide internship slots and send professionals to the university to share their expertise and knowledge while students are studying in Taiwan; students can choose to stay in Taiwan to work, or may choose to return to their hometown to work after graduation. SUNON will arrange training in its overseas plant, so that the students can apply the skills and knowledge learned in school to daily work. Through complete training, students can land on better positions for better career development; on the other hand, the mid-level managerial position vacancies in the Philippine plant can also be filled up to compensate for the shortage of local talent recruitment. Through the industry-academia talent cultivation program, outstanding talents could be selected to bridge the local organizational operation gaps.
SUNON has long been focusing on ESG issues. Aside from continuing to develop energy-saving cooling technologies and products in the industry, it also actively creates a diverse and inclusive workplace and talent cultivation. Through this MOU with Kun-Shan University and Shu-Te University, we hope to grow and thrive with the university and accelerate international industry-academia collaborations. We hope that with the close cooperation between the parties, it could provide deeper help to both industry and academia so that both parties can achieve better results.
