Changzhi, Pingtung, was formerly known as “Changxing.” During the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, immigrants from Guangdong came to cultivate this land. The name was inspired by the wish for “lasting peace and enduring prosperity,” and was later changed to “Changzhi.” It is a simple and sincere township centered on Hakka culture while also blending Minnan traditions.
