Changzhi, Pingtung, was formerly known as “Changxing.” During the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty, immigrants from Guangdong came to cultivate this land. The name was inspired by the wish for “lasting peace and enduring prosperity,” and was later changed to “Changzhi.” It is a simple and sincere township centered on Hakka culture while also blending Minnan traditions. It is also home to the Agricultural Biotechnology Park, an important base for Taiwan’s agricultural biotechnology industry.
When we think of Dashu District, what comes to mind most vividly are its pineapple fields stretching across the hillsides and its sweet, heartwarming Yu Her Pau lychees.
The essence of charity lies in the meeting of one life with another. When we bend down to hand over supplies, we learn humility. When we step into rural communities, we broaden our horizons.
This also signifies that 2025 is drawing to a close. December is a season filled with longing and remembrance.
The feelings we hold for our hometown are like an invisible bond, closely tying our hearts to every inch of this land. It is because it carries people’s pasts, their roots, and their precious memories.
